Professional and education

Since  August 2016 I serve on the faculty of the mathematics department at the University of Connecticut.

From 1991 to 2016 I was on the faculty  of the department of mathematics at LSU. From 2011 to 2016 it was my special honor to hold the chair named after Hubert Butts, a former colleague.

Over the years I have had the pleasure and privilege of visiting a large number of research institutions. These include the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in Bonn, the University of Bonn, the UPMC (Paris 6), the Indian Statistical Institute and the S. N. Bose Centre.

Before joining LSU back in 1991 I was a post-doctoral fellow and instructor in the physics department at Princeton University.

I obtained my PhD in mathematics from Cornell University in 1990 working under the supervision of Leonard Gross.

Before Cornell I did my undergraduate studies at Presidency College in Calcutta.

My research interests and program have been greatly influenced by Len Gross and Sergio Albeverio. I have also benefited greatly through interaction with many others, among whom I mention Thierry LevyHui-Hsiung KuoGreg LiebBrian HallBruce Driver Chris King, and Amitabha Lahiri and Saikat Chatterjee.
